The mighty MO river is definitely on the rise! Jeff and I went over to Parkville today to see the flood waters that have already taken over the river front park. We visited with a long time native of Parkville and she was telling us all about the Flood of 93. That flood water made it all the way up to the Post Office, that is 2-3 blocks from the river! Yikes! She said that the guy who owns the Pizza place on the corner, had half of his big electric outdoor sign halfway under water during the last flood, so today he took his new sign down.
With not much else to do on a blazing hot day, we decided to walk up the hill and check out a new, air-conditioned Antique Mall. We cooled off inside and re hydrated ourselves with some cold drinks. It is a hot one here today!!
This was the flood level in 93, this is a shop across the street from the Pizza Place - wow that is a lot of water. I had J stand next to the sign for prospective! LOL Come on give us a smile......jeez! :)
We had a nice time in Parkville today. All the shop owners were so appreciative to have us in their stores today- such nice folks. I hope the sandbags hold strong and spare this quaint town. As one sweet elder shop owner said to me, "Honey, we just don't know what this flood is going to do."
And so they wait.
