I had to make a trip to the doctor this morning for a ultrasound. The test results were good - no problems! The Radiologist, however, was a problem. He reminded me that with my Insulin Resistance that I was at high risk to develop type 2 diabetes, and that if I dropped some weight that would be good. First of all I already know this, but love to be reminded of it in a room with two other women. I know this is his job, I get that, but being lectured about dropping a few pounds by a doctor who's beer belly was hanging well over his scrubs was a bit annoying. I wanted to let him know that I don't take advise from fat doctors but that's not nice, so I remained quiet. I am not usually this sensitive but hey it was just one of those days!
I had to take Lilly to the vet today. We went to the Humane Society of Greater Kansas City. I have wanted to try these guys for a while, I like that proceeds from the vet care goes towards the shelter dogs and cats, and it is cheaper then our regular vet. Lilly and I really had to practice some patience because we had a long wait. Problem with that is neither Lilly or I are patient! lol Lil was a very popular girl with everyone in the waiting room and the staff, she was a bit on the shy side today but still a really good girl. I took her in because she had some chest congestion and blood shot eyes with discharge coming out of them - poor girl. Lilly is never sick, so when she did not start feeling better over the weekend I knew she needed to go in. The vet had a hard time finding a good vein in her stubby little legs. Lilly was such a good girl, she likes to hide her big ol head when she's scared or nervous. I think she feels safe when she can stick her head and hide it, today her hiding spot was my armpit! The vet prescribed her some antibiotic pills/eye drops, and we were finally out the door. We climbed into the blazing HOT car and made our way home. The car took forever to cool off, and was only starting to blow cool air when we were about 5 min from home - annoying. Poor Lilly looked so miserable on the way home - sick, hot, and worn out. As I watched her in the rear view mirror with her icky looking eyes and her tongue hanging out of the mouth panting, I knew that even Lilly was just having one of those days too!
Lilly did enjoy the reading material in the waiting room! Two little cuties on the May cover of Metro Pet Magazine. Gotta love the hounds!
It has been a long, hot day and my back is killing me. Lilly jumped off the exam table and so I caught her 55 pounds in the air - ouch. The vet was getting ready to help me get her off the table, but Lilly decided that he was not fast enough, so she just jumped off that table onto me. Big girl is just too heavy for me right now.
