The West Bottoms is an industrial area immediately to the west of downtown Kansas City, Missouri. The area is one of the oldest areas in the city. For some time now the West Bottoms consisted of, vacant buildings, stockyards, haunted houses, and Kemper Arena. Recently, a redevelopment has begun to attract upscale and artistic tenants to redevelop buildings and help reestablish the West Bottoms area. Some of these tenants include, antique stores, flea markets, and art galleries. Most are only open the first weekend of the month.
Saturday Jeff and I decided to make a day of it, and go check it out. The weather was less then perfect, it was crowded, there was no place to park, but it sure was fun! We checked out about a handful of flea markets/antique stores. We ran out of time and still have more stores to go through (this is why this blog post is part one). We ate a late lunch at Jerry’s Woodswether Café. Good eats were enjoyed, which included a meatloaf sandwich and chicken fried chicken.
Can't wait to go back! So many treasures to go through, and we got in a lot of walking to boot!
