Welcome Amos

Today Jeff and I took a trip up to Savannah to take a look around M'Shoogy's Famous Emergency Animal Rescue.  M'Shoogy's is a no-kill animal sanctuary that has been dedicated to saving the lives of abandoned, injured, and abused animals for many years.  It was there in a maze of dog pins we found a Basset Hound.  Jeff was instantly taken by him.  For me I was unsure, he seemed too wild, too loud, and too much not like Lilly.  I know this comparison was not fair, but I still felt it.  We got in the pin with him and Jeff and him immediately bonded with each other - wrestling and playing.  I really had to take a step back and think, is he right for our family?  Is this fair to Grace?  We looked at other dogs, but kept finding our way back to him.  We did find out that he is heart worm positive, we did not know that from the get go - not that it would have mattered.  M'Shoogy's is going to treat him for his worms, which I guess can be quite an expensive and painful treatment. :(  He is also being neutered this week.  If all goes well with his heart worm treatment he will be able to leave next Saturday, if not then he will have to remain there another thirty days.  After spending time with him and knowing about his condition I knew this guy needed us.  It will be a transition to add him to our family, but all changes are.  As for Grace she is top dog in our house and that boy is going to learn it and learn it fast! I still have my concerns, but I am also very excited.  It will be fun to have young lively energy in the house, a walking partner (for me), wrestling partner (for Jeff), and did I mention our very own security alarm - that dog has a loud bark on him!  So please welcome Amos Moses.  (Jeff picked the name - lol) Think we might call him Moe for short.  I forgot to mention he is 3-4 years old, but seems like a total pup!

In case you were wondering where Jeff came up with the name.  Its from the Jerry Reed song Amos Moses.  J always thought that would make for a great hound dog name.  Listen to the song, it's fun!!
