One Hound of a Celebration

Saturday Jeff and I got Lilly's ashes back from the Vet and decided to do a memorial of sorts to honor our beloved girl.  So we headed down to Brookside where Lilly participated in the St. Patrick's Day/Waddle parade for several years.  I brought along a small amount of her ashes to spread along the parade route.  Jeff and I walked the one mile route and I sprinkled little bits of ashes along the way, under trees, in flower beds, around a art sculpture, a few fire hydrants (lol!), and the grassy meeting place that year after year we waited with all the hounds in anticipation for the parade to start.  So many wonderful memories.  Jeff and I smiled and laughed as we walked past the street corner where Lilly and Duke sat last year, and munched on (dog) cookies!! They became fast friends :)  We miss our girl, but we are so lucky to have so many wonderful memories.  A small part Lilly will forever live in Brooskside and she will forever be at her parade.

While in Brookside we stopped at Charlie Hoopers for a bite to eat.  Saturdays is "Dog Day" at this fun bar and grill.  All hot dogs $1.25 - $1.50.  Their hot dogs are named after breeds of dogs, so in keeping with our memorial we both ordered two Hound dogs with fries (Jeff also got the Malamute)! Hot dogs and fries where some of Lilly's favorite foods (but then again, what wasn't one of her favorite foods-lol)!

This was a fun day.  No tears, only smiles and laughter as we recounted the great times we had with our girl!

The rest of Lilly is with us at home.  I used an antique milk glass candy jar for her urn.  I thought using a candy dish was appropriate for our candy sneaking girl!  Did you know that dog ate a whole bag of Hershey kisses and took each one out of their foil wrappers!! She was a dog of many talents!
Love you Lilly!
